Hi All. update: Slept well last night after the hypoglycemia scare the night
before and the day of not feeling good yesterday, FBG 169, s'ok I'll adjust, I
would rather add then start with a large dose and go hypoglycemic. 8:30 inj 44U, my 2
hr pp was 127. Lunch was delicious omelet LCHF I found online, 2 hr pp high
@166 (forgot to test before).
I am definitely not giving up just may need to adjust more and see what
works for me.
I mentioned the smell of "nail polish remover" that upset me,
Thor told me "acetone". I laughed at myself and told myself "no
duh". I realized I was eating twice the amount of protein and this added
to the uncomfortable feeling, a bit too much ketosis.
Tomorrow I am going shopping tomorrow and I am out of some of these and
some I am adding(all full fat):
Olive Oil
Almond Meal
Raw Hemp Seed
Mayonnaise
Butter
Nut Butter
Salmon
Nut Oil
Cheese
Sour Cream
Cream
Golden Flaxseed
Flax Seed
Cream Cheese
Coconut Flour
Bacon

RE: Healing the Pancreas. I am an ayurvedist and have used ginger,
bitter melon and both are good. I also used Jamun which help me stave off two
different irritable pancreas attacks early on when I got sick of my diagnosis
and decided to throw caution to the wind. I was on way too little insulin at
the time and the doctor would not change it(he was inept) I know it works and
hopefully if I get off of Insulin I will use it again. It is said to actually
heal the pancreas and restore function, of course it requires a change in diet
for the rest of your life. Traditionally in India a patient gets one gram of
Jambul seeds three times a day for 60-90 days with a low carb diet. Then , in
theory, the diabetes is considered healed and the diet is a way of life with
supportive herbs such as turmeric, ginger, cardamon, bitter melon - which are
staple spices in India anyway.
The reason I have not added Jamun right now is because there is no
local ayurvedic doctor and I am on insulin so I will not have the support one
should have on this therapy. But here is some information on it.:

Went looking for a good book today on reversing diabetes and LCHF diet.
Did not purchase any because they were too expensive, and thanks to google
books and amazon "look inside" previews, the info I wanted was easily
found online.
Kudos to all those who really care about diabetics!!!
I did buy "Primal Body, Primal Mind: Beyond the Paleo Diet for
Total Health and a Longer Life" because it was recommended. Also a
cookbook, "The Low Carb High Fat Cookbook: 100 Recipes to Lose Weight and
Feel Great," because I have got to be the worse cook on the planet but the
five or so dishes i can make, I rock on but i can't eat, lol. I am pretty good
at cooking pork loin and steak. I can't afford to mess up too much and I dread
having to eat something that I destroyed - the thought of me forcing myself to
eat one of my disasters actually makes me laugh. I digress:)

I think the reason why I could not find a good book on "reversing
diabetes" is because the info that is contained in these books is the same
as those to manage diabetes, reduce the meds and possibly get off of insulin
(which is my ultimate goal.) Even if I do reach my ultimate goal, I know I will
have to always watch what I eat and keep my weight down. I am very interested
in research for stem cell therapy, now that would be a cure but I can also see
that it would be done only on patients who prove they are working hard to
manage their disease, similar to organ plant candidates. Maybe in my lifetime.
